What's New for the 2019 Nissan LEAF?

The 2019 Nissan Leaf is a very affordable and practical vehicle if you are someone that has noticed the electric car market. It competes against vehicles like the Chevy Bolt EV and the Tesla Model 3. There were some shortcomings in previous models of the Leaf but last year it was completely redesigned. This removed many of the issues that people had. This year you’ll find there is a larger battery pack included. This is a type of vehicle that you really need to research before you make a purchase. An electric vehicle isn’t something that will work for everyone. If you feel like this would be a beneficial investment, then it is worth it to take a closer look at the 2019 Nissan Leaf. Let’s take a closer look at some of the new features this year as well as some other details you should consider.

In 2019 there is a high-end trim level being added to the mix. The vehicle will see minimal changes otherwise. The 2018 model was completely redesigned and perfected so not much was needed this time around. The trim levels are going to be the S, SV, and SL. A longer-range variant will be added as well that has a larger battery pack. More power is going to available with this option. It is rumored that Nissan is working on a NISMO version of the Leaf but it is likely to come out closer to the 2020 manufacture year. The current source of power for the 2019 version is a 40-kWh battery pack that provides 147 horsepower along with 236-pound-feet of torque. A one-speed transmission is featured and you get an EPA rating of 151 on a single full charge. It looks like Nissan is going to include a 60-kWh battery pack for the 2019 model as well. This would increase the overall driving range to about 200 miles total.

There are many different standard features that are included in the Leaf package. Even the base model S trim level provides some great features like a rearview camera to help you with parking and driving in reverse. You get a practical 5.0-inch display infotainment system to control things like your Bose audio sound system, optional navigation and much more. Emergency braking technology is a relatively new feature but it is included in the Nissan Leaf this year. While you are driving along down the road your vehicle will sense if there is something in front of you that you could potentially run into. If you aren’t showing a fast enough response time, then your vehicle will respond for you and brake accordingly. Blind-spot monitoring technology will also help keep you safe and aware of what is around you and your vehicle while you are on the road. You are signaled when you have a vehicle or object around your vehicle that you maybe do not see.
